Kurdish Women in the Crosshairs: Iran’s War Against Rojhilat and Bashur

The escalation of the armed conflict between Iran and the US and Israel particularly affects Kurdish women: female fighters from opposition parties in camps in northern Iraq (Bashur), political prisoners in Iranian prisons, and civilians in Rojhilat, the Iranian part of Kurdistan. The pattern is not new, but the war has given it renewed urgency and increased brutality.

When children become weapons: filicide as an expression of gender-based violence

Research shows that mothers and fathers who kill their children follow fundamentally different patterns. Maternal filicides occur predominantly shortly after birth, often in the context of poverty, isolation, and mental illness. Paternal filicides, by contrast, more often involve older children and are almost always linked to separation, intimate partner violence, or an attempt to regain control.
